Plant Journal

Terms of service

Last updated 28 October 2026

The short version

Plant Journal is a small, private plant care journal that a few households use, by invitation, for free. Use it kindly, keep your own records safe, and understand it comes without promises. Here is the plain version.

Who can use it

Only people the owner has invited. You sign in with the email address you were invited with. Keep your sign-in to yourself. The owner can remove anyone's access at any time, for example if the service is misused or when it is closed.

What you put in

Giving plants to other households

When you offer a plant to someone, nothing moves until they accept. If they accept, the plant and its records and pictures become theirs and leave your household. Cancelling an offer before it is accepted is always possible. You can also offer a cutting: you keep your plant, and the receiver gets a new plant that starts as a cutting, without your records.

Access keys and other apps

Settings can make access keys that let other apps read your household's plants or mark tasks done. A key works like a password: whoever has it can do what it allows, as if they were part of your household for that purpose. Keep keys secret, make one per app, and revoke any you no longer use. You are responsible for what happens through your keys. Keys are limited in how often they can be used, and the owner can switch keys off for everyone. A webhook sends information about your household's tasks to the address you give it, so use an address you control. Programs that use keys are not part of Plant Journal and are not run or checked by it.

Advice and suggestions

The care reminders, care suggestions, plant name suggestions and the light meter are helpful estimates, not guarantees. Plants differ, and the suggestions can be wrong. Look at your plant and use your own judgement. The owner is not responsible if a plant struggles or dies.

No promises about availability

Plant Journal is provided as it is, free of charge, by a private person. It may be down, change, lose features, or close at any time. Keep a copy of anything important: the Admin page can export plants as a file. The owner will try to give notice before closing it.

Responsibility

As far as the law allows, the owner is not responsible for losses caused by using or not being able to use Plant Journal, including lost data. Nothing here limits rights that cannot be limited by law, such as rights you have as a consumer.

Your information

How your information is handled is described in the privacy policy.

Changes and law

These terms may change; the date at the top will then change too, and people who use Plant Journal will be told. If you do not agree with a change, stop using it and ask for your data to be deleted. These terms follow Finnish law. Questions: iiro.heinala@gmail.com.
