People in the same household share plants, tasks, notes and guides. Other households can't see them. Invite someone by email: they sign in with that address (Google, or a code by email) within 30 days and land in the household you chose.
Turn a kind of task off and the app stops creating it, for every household: it disappears from Today, from each plant's task list and from the daily email. Watering is always on. History is kept, and you can turn a task back on any time.
Lets people suggest a plant's genus and species from a photo (using Pl@ntNet). Turn it off and the "Identify from photo" button can't be pressed, for every household. Each household can identify up to 30 photos a day. Photos are sent to Pl@ntNet and not kept.
A slow-scrolling strip of your plant photos down the left side of the app. It only shows on wide screens such as laptops, never on phones. Turn it off to hide it for everyone.
Lets people measure the light at a plant's spot with their phone camera. Turn it off and "Light meter" disappears from the app's menu for every household, and the page itself says it is switched off.
Lets people give a plant to another household by email address. The other person accepts or declines; if they accept, the plant moves to their household with its history. Turn it off and "Give away" disappears and open offers can't be accepted, for every household.
Lets households make keys in Settings so other apps can use their plants: a calendar link, read-only access, or marking tasks done. Each key is limited (60 calls a minute, 5000 a day; a calendar link 30 an hour) and its activity is recorded. Turn it off and every key stops working at once and nobody can make new ones.
A household can add a webhook to one of its access keys (not to a calendar link): Plant Journal then posts a signed message to the address they give, every morning with what is due, and when a task or reminder is marked done. Messages are retried up to three times, a webhook is paused after 10 failed messages in a row, each household can have 3 webhooks and each webhook gets at most 500 messages a day. Turn it off and nothing is sent and nobody can add one. Switching off access keys stops webhooks too.
Choose who sees care suggestions, and how sensitive they are. The app suggests a new watering interval when the records show a plant's current one looks off. It looks at how often the plant is really watered, how your plants of the same genus are watered (adjusted for pot size, pot material and how long they have been in the pot), and the season where you live. These settings decide how much evidence it needs and how sensitive it is. They apply to every household and take effect straight away.
Where weather and daylight are logged, for every household's analytics.
The key every household's daily email is sent with. Each household turns its digest on, and chooses the time and address, in the app's Settings.
Where the database, hosting, email and code live.
Download your household's plants as a file, or add plants to it from one. Care history, health notes and guides stay in the database and aren't part of the file.
What people send from Settings › Give feedback in the app. Only you can see it. Mark a message as read or done to keep track, or delete it.
